Oculus Connect 5

At the very end of September 2018, the Fallen Planet team flew out to California to attend the 5th Oculus Connect event. As a launch partner of Oculus, and with our close working relationship since 2014, this was another unmissable opportunity for Alex and Co. to catch up with some old friends and meet many of the other innovative creators behind some of the biggest hits in consumer VR. The two-day event, held at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, was also a chance to get a first official glimpse at the Oculus Quest [formerly the Santa Cruz] and try some room-scale VR favourites.

Talks from John Carmack and Michael Abrash were as inspiring as ever, and it was great to listen to Andrew Bosworth, Hugo Barra and Mark Zuckerberg discussing their vision for the future of Oculus and the challenges we all have to overcome to make it happen. There was a great sense of optimism and positivity throughout the event as we can all feel the VR juggernaut that is Oculus, continuing to build momentum as it drives VR into the mainstream. We’re all fans of PSVR at Fallen Planet HQ, however, the 6DoF, wireless capabilities that power the Oculus Quest will bring is just what we have all been waiting for. Roll on 2019 – VR; keep on trucking!
